Why Brain Cradle Is Removing “Teacher” from Yoga Teacher Training

At Brain Cradle, we believe that yoga education should be accessible to everyone, not just those who want to teach.

The truth is, nearly half of all people who enroll in 200-hour yoga teacher trainings have no intention of becoming yoga teachers. They sign up to deepen their practice, explore yogic philosophy, or transform their relationship with mind and body. So why do we continue calling these programs “teacher trainings”?

The language we use matters—and it may be excluding the very people who would benefit most.

🧘‍♀️ A Shift in Language. A Shift in Access.

The term “Yoga Teacher Training” implies that the end goal is a career. But what about those who don’t want to teach? What about the lifelong learners, community healers, mental health professionals, or curious beginners who want to immerse themselves in yoga without the pressure of becoming an instructor?

By using the word “teacher,” the wellness industry has unintentionally created a gatekeeping mindset—one that suggests only aspiring professionals belong in advanced study spaces.

At Brain Cradle, we’re challenging that norm.

We’re removing the word “Teacher” from our core language around 200-hour programs and instead offering White Label 200-Hour Yoga Training Manuals that are flexible, inclusive, and designed for a wider range of uses.

🌀 Why It Matters: Breaking Down Barriers in Yoga Education

Over time, capitalism has reshaped how yoga is taught and sold. Studios and certifying bodies have leaned heavily into professionalism, credentialing, and the “business” of yoga. While many of these tools are helpful, they can also create limiting beliefs:

  • “I’m not flexible or advanced enough to be in a teacher training.”

  • “I don’t want to teach, so this training isn’t for me.”

  • “I’m too old, too new, or too unconventional to be a yoga teacher.”

We believe these narratives are harmful—and unnecessary.

🌱 What Brain Cradle Offers Instead

We’re still proud to support RYS 200 programs and remain a Yoga Alliance member. You’ll still have access to our:

  • ✅ Application submission support

  • ✅ White label, editable yoga training manuals

  • ✅ Professional illustrations and inclusive workbook formatting

  • ✅ Graduation certificates and print-on-demand services

But we’re also intentionally creating tools for those who want to host yoga education experiences that aren’t focused on producing teachers.

Our manuals are perfect for:

  • Community-centered yoga programs

  • Personal development or deep study retreats

  • Mental health professionals integrating yoga into their work

  • Yoga collectives seeking to de-professionalize their offerings

🤝 Yoga Education, Without the Pressure to Teach

By reframing yoga education, we open the door for more people to experience its benefits—without the weight of certification, career expectations, or performative standards.

It’s time to make space for both pathways:Yoga as a profession and yoga as a practice of personal evolution.

At Brain Cradle, we believe both are valid. Both are valuable. And both deserve professional, inclusive tools that support the journey.

💬 Let’s Reimagine Yoga Education Together

It takes a village to create change. Join us in starting a new conversation—one rooted in inclusion, integrity, and intention.
